Last night, I had the privilege of attending All Our Kin’s 25th Anniversary Gala, an event that left me both inspired and deeply moved. It was a celebration of a quarter-century of tireless dedication to empowering caregivers, strengthening communities, and ensuring that all children have access to high-quality early childhood education.
As the former owner of a bilingual daycare and center, this mission resonates deeply with me. Running a childcare center gave me firsthand insight into the challenges that caregivers face, from limited resources to the emotional weight of ensuring children’s development in a safe and nurturing environment. I know how essential it is for caregivers to receive support, both in terms of resources and professional development, to effectively serve children and their families.
All Our Kin is doing exactly that—and more. Their work is empowering caregivers, especially those in marginalized communities, by providing them with training, mentorship, and advocacy. These efforts not only uplift caregivers but also ripple out into the lives of countless children, families, and communities, creating lasting change.
The gala itself was a beautiful testament to the power of collective action. I had the opportunity to meet inspiring individuals like Jerletha McDonald, all of whom are united in their commitment to transforming early childhood care. Conversations throughout the evening reinforced just how vital All Our Kin’s work is in bridging the gap between high-quality childcare and communities that need it the most.
A special thank you to Jessica Sager and her amazing team for organizing such a heartfelt event and making me feel so welcome. It’s clear that this organization is not only changing lives today but shaping the future for generations to come.
I left the event feeling more inspired than ever to continue my work in early childhood education and advocate for the empowerment of caregivers. I look forward to supporting and collaborating on the continued success of All Our Kin’s mission.
Why All Our Kin’s Work Matters
The importance of early childhood education cannot be overstated. Research shows that the early years are critical to a child’s cognitive, social, and emotional development. Yet, too many caregivers face barriers in providing the quality care that children deserve. All Our Kin addresses this head-on by equipping caregivers with the tools, training, and support they need to thrive.
By investing in caregivers, All Our Kin ensures that children are not only cared for but nurtured in environments where they can flourish. Their work strengthens the entire ecosystem—improving outcomes for children, uplifting families, and building stronger communities.
As someone who has been on the frontlines of early childhood education, I know how impactful these efforts can be. The support that All Our Kin provides can transform a struggling caregiver into a confident, empowered leader who positively impacts the lives of children every day. This ripple effect is why their work is so crucial, and why I am excited to continue advocating for it.
Looking Ahead
As we celebrate 25 years of All Our Kin, I’m optimistic about what lies ahead. The future of early childhood education depends on organizations like All Our Kin, which recognize the power of caregivers and provide them with the support they need to succeed.
To everyone I met at the gala, thank you for sharing your passion and stories. I look forward to working together to continue creating positive change for caregivers, children, and families.
